Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) - In British Columbia, there is currently no provincial regulatory body responsible for diagnostic medical sonographers. CARDUP is the credentialing authority for diagnostic medical sonographers in Canada. CARDUP also provides a current registry of diagnostic ultrasound professionals who meet national competency standards.
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - An independent, not-for-profit organization that administers examinations and credentializes registered diagnostic medical sonographers in the United States. Registration with the ARDMS is recognized by most health employers in British Columbia.
Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (CSDMS) - The national unifying voice of sonography, advancing the practice of diagnostic ultrasound to improve patient care by providing leadership, professional practice guidelines and policies, and acting in the public interest on health issues. Membership with the CSDMS may be required by some health employers in British Columbia.
British Columbia Ultrasonographers’ Society (BCUS) - The professional association of diagnostic medical sonographers in British Columbia. The goal of this society is to advance the science of diagnostic medical sonography by providing educational events and addressing issues affecting the profession in province. Membership with the BCUS is not mandatory to work in British Columbia.
Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia (RCCbc) - Supports the Continuum of Care by focusing on rural health education, network facilitation and interprofessional training and practice.
