The Health Match BC office will be closed on Monday, May 20th for Victoria Day.

Licensing / Registration

There is no formal regulatory body responsible for MRTs in BC. The British Columbia Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (BCAMRT) is the association that manages the professional affairs of MRTs in the province. It is an affiliate of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

Membership with the BCAMRT is not mandatory; however, eligibility for BCAMRT membership is sometimes an employment requirement by health authorities in BC.

Certification and Registration Requirements

Everyone who wants to work as an MRT in BC - both internationally educated MRTs and graduates of Canadian programs - must pass the CAMRT National Certification Examination. To be eligible to write the exam, you must have graduated from an MRT program recognized by the CAMRT.

Internationally educated MRTs (IEMRTs) - including Canadians educated as MRTs in another country - must complete the CAMRT Assessment Process. There are bridging programs designed to prepare MRTs for the CAMRT examination, and help them meet the requirements for provincial registration and national certification. It also assists them with a successful transition to their jobs. More information is available on the CAMRT website.
