Bring your clinical expertise and passion for providing quality, compassionate care to a challenging and rewarding role as a Nurse Practitioner, Urgent and Primary Care Clinic within the Central Okanagan Primary Care Network

Be part of a cohesive team of clinicians who each have their own unique role and scope in the provision of patient care and you work together to make sure that the patient’s needs are met in the most effective way possible to provide both timely and short term longitudinal primary care to unattached and attached clients. We are currently looking for full-time, part-time and casual Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to join our expert team of clinical professionals including general practitioners (GPs), registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), social workers (SWs), physiotherapists (PTs), and respiratory therapists (RTs).

Responsibilities would include:

• The responsibility and accountability for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions is key to this role.

• The ability to Initiate treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, and provide client care and follow up based on the client’s needs, urgency and best practices.

• The opportunity to practice autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team while providing professional mentorship to other health professionals.

• Collaborating with patients/clients/residents and other health providers to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients/clients/residents, families and communities.

• Participating in peer review and self-review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient/client/resident, community and population level.

Are you motivated to join us? We will be looking for you to have:

• Current provisional/practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

• Relevant, clinical nursing experience.

Professional/Technical capabilities will include:

• Your clinical knowledge and real passion for providing quality, compassionate care to motivate and inspire others.

• Ability to perform the full scope of nurse practitioner duties and responsibilities.

• Strong skills in communication and collaboration with patients and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.

• Ability to lead a team.

The Facility:

The Central Okanagan (COK) Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC) is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, Interior Health, the Division of Family Practice and other partners as appropriate. It will augment the existing same day access to primary care in the Central Okanagan currently provided by a network of primary care practices and improve access to same day care for patients. In addition, the COK-UPCC will attach patients in need of a primary care provider until they can be attached to a regular patient medical home and will provide patients an alternative to the Emergency Department for urgent and episodic care needs that can be managed by primary care.

The COK-UPCC will operate out of a standalone building adjacent to the Capri Mall and in close proximity to medical imaging services, private and community laboratory services and two private pharmacies. Its hours of operation will be from 09:30 – 20:30, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
