Seasonal Part-Time Nursing Opportunity – Timeframe: October 1st, 2019 - March 31st, 2020

Registered Nurse – Medical Inpatient Unit

As per Article 17.04 of the BC Nurses Association Collective Agreement, this is a seasonal position. The successful incumbent will be regular part-time, 0.5 FTE, and will work full-time hours during the compressed period of approximately October 1 to March 31, annually.

What you’ll do

Provide direct patient care by implementing the care plan and collaborating with other members of the health care team to evaluate family-centered patient care in the particular setting.
Plan direct care for the patient by performing activities such as reviewing patient/family history, developing a care plan specific for the patient and family, and meeting with other members of the health care team to discuss and review the care plan.
Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting information including health care information regarding patients and their families, nursing observations, telephone communications, interventions, teaching, and care evaluations to ensure that patient records are current and complete.
Teach patients, family members, or other care-givers by providing and explaining information, demonstrating procedures and use of equipment, checking the learners’ use of procedures, techniques and equipment, and evaluating the overall effectiveness of the selected teaching methods.
Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students by preceptoring and mentoring.

What you bring

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
Current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
One (1) year recent, related experience in the designated clinical area and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

You have the ability to:

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Relate effectively to children and their families and others.
Function as an active member of a multidisciplinary care team.
Demonstrate effective CPR techniques.
Organize work
Physically perform the duties of the job.
Operate related equipment including applicable computer software.

Wage: $34.83-$45.73 hourly
